Final call to sign up for the FREE Landlord Roadshow event
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has arranged a free event next week which will provide local landlords with a rare opportunity to hear the views from national landlord and agent representatives.
The event will take place on Tuesday 10 May 2022 at the Mercure Hotel in Willerby between 10am and 3pm.
Council, fire, and police officers will provide information and discuss legal responsibilities in terms of safe housing standards, compliant eviction procedures and current property insulation and energy efficiency solutions. The seminar will include contributions from:
- Ben Beadle, Chief Executive at National Residential Landlords Association
- Paul Shamplina from Landlord Action (as seen on Channel 5 'Nightmare Tenants, Slum Landlords')
- Ryan Melles of The Property Shop Yorkshire
- East Riding of Yorkshire Council's Private Sector Housing and Anti-Social Behaviour teams
- Humberside Police
- Humberside Fire and Rescue Service
- Yes Energy Solutions
Paul Shamplina will be discussing new laws which are on the way and why landlords need letting agents more than ever. Ben Beadle from the National Residential Landlords Association will look at what's ahead for landlords in 2022.
Ryan Melles from The Property Shop will also assess the law and expectations of landlords.
Also discussed will be the implications for landlords of the new Fire Safety Act and fire risk assessment. A look at the Government Rogue Landlord Initiative - enforcement priorities and encouraging landlords to engage with their local authority to achieve legal compliance in relation to housing standards and eviction procedures
Anti-social behaviour will be addressed by improving landlord contact with the police and other agencies. The event will finish by reflecting on Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards enforcement and energy solutions.
Paul Abbott, director of housing, transportation and public protection at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: "The Landlord Roadshow events are a fantastic way of getting vital information across to landlords in the East Riding. The events are provided to support landlords but also to ensure they are aware and complying with the legal responsibilities expected of them.
"The event is a perfect opportunity for landlords to ask questions to industry experts and to network with likeminded people. I would encourage any landlords in the East Riding area to express an interest in what I'm sure will be a very worthwhile event."
Paul Shamplina, founder of Landlord Action, said: "I'm really looking forward to speaking at East Riding of Yorkshire Council's 'Landlord Roadshow' on educating landlords. Now is the time to have the mindset of being professional in managing their properties and to treat this as a business. The tenants are a landlord's customer."
Places are limited and restricted to two candidates for each business. To confirm your attendance please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the name of your business and the positions of the candidates attending.
