To accompany the latest exhibition success at Beverley Art Gallery, the Treasure House is hosting events given by guest Curator Dr Gerardine Mulcahy-Parker. This will be a chance to find out more about the artists being exhibited and how this remarkable exhibition came about.

There will be a talk about the exhibition, 'Crossing borders from the Danube to the Humber: Alfred Gruber and Friends', which will reveal how art historian and freelance curator, Dr Gerardine Mulcahy-Parker, unearthed the story of Austrian-born Alfred Gruber and his European artistic circle during the 1960s and beyond. It also offers an opportunity to see original drawings, sculptural models, tools and materials at close range, and discover just what made this extraordinary artist tick.

It will take place on Saturday, 7 May from 1.30pm - 2.30pm in the Education Room on the first floor of the Treasure House. Tickets cost £5 per person and people are advised to purchase these in advance, by visiting eastridingmuseums.co.uk/whats-on/, or by calling (01482) 392699 to pay by phone, Monday to Friday. Limited tickets are also available from Beverley Art Gallery at the Treasure House.

Visitors can also attend a lunchtime tour with Dr Mulcahy-Parker to discover more about the exhibition. It's an opportunity to meet the curator, ask questions and share views. There will be additional drawings, sculptural models, tools and materials to get close-up to, as well as the chance to hear the sounds that several of Gruber's kinetic artworks produce, including his magnificent sculptural gong!

The lunchtime tour will take place on Wednesday, 1 June from 12.30pm-1.00pm at Beverley Art Gallery on the first floor of the Treasure House. It is free and no booking is required.

For more information about both the curator talk and the lunchtime tour visit eastridingmuseums.co.uk or call (01482) 392782.
