Welton and Brough Sports Club have been awarded £17,000 funding from East Riding of Yorkshire Council as part of Commuted Sums from local housing developments. The funding has been awarded towards an Outdoor Practice Net Facility at the club's ground.

The total cost for the practice facility is £35,000, with Welton and Brough Sports Club contributing the remaining £18,000.

Howard Kingdom, Chairman at Welton and Brough Sports Club, said: "Welton and Brough Sports Club endeavour to provide sport, recreation and general well-being for the whole community from the age of three upwards.

"Our member base is increasing year on year and therefore we always need to improve and extend our facilities.

"We are hugely indebted to East Riding of Yorkshire Council for their support over the years but now in particular for enabling us to install a new state of the art outdoor net practice facility. This will enable our senior members to practice and also allow us to coach the many youngsters in a safe and friendly environment.

"The club would like to sincerely thank all concerned at East Riding of Yorkshire Council for their support and faith in us."

Councillor Gary McMaster, portfolio holder for planning, infrastructure, and housing, added : "I am delighted that we have been able to help to fund these much needed improvements through Commuted Sums provided by local housing developments as a condition of their planning approval. I wish the Club all the very best for the future."
