Children and young people invited to share their experiences of lockdown
Children and young people across the East Riding are being invited to share their views and experiences of lockdown and their transition back into school or college.
Educational psychologists at East Riding of Yorkshire Council have created three surveys aimed at those children and young people who are in primary and secondary school and college settings and the responses will help to shape what future support and development may be needed.
The questions in the survey have been developed with other educational psychology services across the country as part of a wider research project which will contribute to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines "social, emotional and mental wellbeing in primary and secondary education" expected to be published in May 2022.
The surveys can be completed at home or in schools or colleges and on a phone, a tablet or a laptop and parents/carers are asked to encourage their child to complete the survey.
Councillor Victoria Aitken, portfolio holder for children and young people's education, health and wellbeing at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: "The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on everyone, not least children and young people.
"It's really important that we hear first-hand the thoughts and experiences directly from our youngsters and find out more about what living through the pandemic has been like for them and how transition back into school has been.
"So please encourage our young people to share their thoughts and experiences."
