Local home insulation company teams up with ScottishPower and East Riding of Yorkshire Council for new energy efficiency scheme
Eligible East Yorkshire households now have the opportunity to reduce their energy usage and save money on their energy bills thanks to a partnership between Hull company Heat Insulation Ltd, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and ScottishPower.
The exciting partnership will see energy efficiency measures being installed into homes - using correct social distancing measures in line with current Government guidelines - within the East Riding of Yorkshire Council area by Heat Insulation Ltd and supported with Energy Company Obligation (ECO) funding by ScottishPower.
ScottishPower is offering this partnership, as part of ECO, and it has been running for a number of years. It is an energy efficiency government scheme for Great Britain, focusing on delivering energy efficiency improvements to low income and vulnerable households.
Councillor Chris Matthews, portfolio holder for strategic property and infrastructure at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: "It is a pleasure to team up with both Heat Insulation Ltd and ScottishPower to help those who need energy efficiency improvement measures put into their households, and of course we welcome the fantastic opportunity it will present as it will directly benefit our environment in the longer term."
Ricky Swann, director of Heat Insulation Ltd said that this is an exciting opportunity to help those in need: "We are delighted to be appointed contractors in this partnership.
"Our background has always been one of helping those who struggle to heat their homes. Now, with the combination of ECO and the £99 scheme, we can help everyone who requires insulation in their homes."
The £99 scheme is a separate budget, available to those who are not eligible under the ECO scheme. Funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the scheme allows householders to contribute £99 towards cavity wall and loft insulation, with the council covering the rest up to a limit of £500.
The £99 scheme is a great opportunity and is much cheaper than the newly-launched Green Homes Scheme if the customer only requires cavity wall or loft insulation.
Nicola Marshall, business development manager at ScottishPower, believes the partnership will have huge benefits for the residents within the council locality: "We have worked with both Heat Insulation Ltd and East Riding of Yorkshire Council on a range of energy efficiency initiatives for a number of years and we're pleased to be supporting this scheme through the provision of ECO funding."
The partnership scheme is available now and will continue until 31 March 2022, giving many households the opportunity to reduce their energy bills and benefit from a warmer home in the winter and a cooler one in the summer.
Any householder who owns their own property or rents from a private landlord may be able to benefit from the partnership as well as the £99 scheme.
